The 411 - 11.03.03

November 3. 2003 is finally here! No more Club Basketball (thank God), no more "who is getting this job", or "fall basketball is waste of time" ,or "my kid gets screwed by everybody" ,or "my trainer is better than yours" ,or "what the hell is he playing THAT kid over mine? You get the point, as today marks the start of prep hoops across the State!

When the whistle blows after school it's down to business. New coaches will try to earn the respect of players & parents, teach their system so come March they have a chance to make a run in "The Road to AWA"!

Questions abound:

How long will the new Tuba City Coach have a job?

Will Highland make another incredible run, thus squelching all the BMC'n about Coach John Burns that started his first season in 2001?

Will Seton Catholic boys capitalize on the respect and publicity they earned this past spring & summer?

Will Valley Christian boys experience success again, or will SCA live up to the hype?

Will Marcos de Niza shock everybody that has given them no respect, and reach the final four?

Can Thunderbird girls repeat?

Who will earn the billing as top PG in Arizona? Germaine Calvin, Ryan Holmes or will someone else emerge?

Can Sammy Duane JR. live up to the hype and pressure following "The Legend" at Corona del Sol?

And the question I am most curious about, how will Desert Vista do with a new coach and system?

My guess is very well! That is why Desert Vista is our 5A Pre-Season #1!
