5A Preseason All-State Teams

1st Team

Ty Morrison: Trevor Browne SR-Best athlete in Arizona.  Mid-major prospect who is in the running for POY.  Will wait until spring to sign.

Lee Cummard: Mesa SR-Rated the top 2G in the West.  First ever for an AZ player.  Signed with BYU.  Cummard is front runner for POY.

Calvin Chitwood: Paradise Valley SR-Big, athletic, smooth wing who will take over the PV program.  Chitwood has decided to wait until spring to sign.

Travis Gabiddon: Desert Vista SR-Athletic swing who leads the #1 ranked Desert Vista Thunder. Best front line player with the ball.  Should lead DV in scoring. Travis will wait until spring to sign.

Damir Suljagic: Salpointe SR-New coach Michael Stewart inherits this monster big man.  Damir impressed many this summer including legendary Bob Knight at Texas TechSigned early with the Red Raiders.

2nd Team

Duboise Williams: Marcos de Niza SR-Williams has earned respect this past spring & summer.  Duboise is the best at taking the ball to the hole, and this 2G is the best all-around guard in Arizona.

Lawrence Hill: Deer Valley JR-Ranked among the nations best in the class of 2005.  Hill will show the State why he is headed to a high major DI program.

Darren Jordan: Trevor Browne JR-Guard who burst on the scene in last years playoffs pouring in 44 against Cummard and Mesa.  Exciting athlete who with Morrison team up for the best 1-2 punch around.  Big time scorer!

Xavier Kilby: Desert Vista SR-Quickness and strength.  Kilby brings high expectations everytime he steps on the court.  With a new coach on board, look for Kilby to fufill all expectations in 04.  Xavier will wait for the spring to choose which DI program he will continue his career.

Brian Schaeffer: Hamilton SR-Big time athlete and best player you never heard of.  Schaeffer can play with anyone.  Defensive POY in 04 is our prediction.  Brian earns his spot on our 2nd team not with high scoring stats, but his abilty to do "what it takes to win"!  Schaeffer is for real!

3rd Team

Thanasi Panagiotakopoulos: Brophy SR.- Shooter, T-Soup is considered by many the best pure shooter in AZ.  After playing in the shadow of Gerad Punch last year, it's Panagiotakopoulos time!

Christian Polk: Deer Valley. SO- Polk considered a "high major" prospect in 06, Christian could be best guard out of AZ in a long time.  Athletic, Polk is nationally ranked at #22 for Sophs.

Matt Komenda: Mesa. JR-Komenda starts out 03 as an unknown, but after this season could rise to the class of 05 #2 prospect in AZ behind Hill.  6'4", but plays 6'9".  Komenda plays hard for 32 minutes.

Daron Stafford: North. SR- Stafford got no hype this past club season, but he will for the Mustangs.  Daron is athletic and quick.  Will pour in a handfull of 30+ games this year.  Look for him to help lead North as our surprise team in 04.

Ryan McCurdy: Highland. SR-6'9" (maybe taller).  McCurdy play much stronger than he looks.  Best true Post in AZ.  mid-major prospect who will help lead the Hawks back to AWA for the 3rd time in 3 years.
