Tigers open the year ranked 22nd

Thursday, October 30, 2003

Following last season's 23-14 finish and a third trip to the NAIA Elite Eight, the Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball team finds itself ranked 22nd in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 Poll, after being listed as a possible breakthrough team by Street & Smith's College Basketball Magazine.

The Tigers, who lost 64-62 to McKendree (Ill.) in the quarterfinal round of the NAIA National Tournament last season, return 10 letter-winners and two starters, led by NAIA Third-Team All-American Jeremy Riddle.

The Tigers finished Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with an 11-3 record and tied with Robert Morris (Ill.) for the championship. Despite falling to St. Xavier (Ill.) in the conference tournament, Olivet still received a bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
