Since early season hype brought a lot of defensive attention his way from opposing teams, Barrett Zeinfeld has picked up his game to average nearly 22ppg leading his Tucson Catalina Foothills squad to first place in the 4A Kino Division in Southern Arizona with a 7-0 record.
Some early season frustration while playing in the Jim Click Salpointe Catholic Tip-off Classic, seemed to test the will of Barrett and his teammates, but coach Trent Emenecker was able to right the ship leading to the current streak the Catalina Foothills Falcons are on. During this streak Barrett has had high game scores of 28(2), 26, 20 and 18(2) points to lead the Falcons.
Standing 5'11 and 165lbs he is an excellent pure shooter with great form but is often called a "scorer" because of the numbers he produces. Aside from hitting the outside shot beyond the three point arc, Zeinfeld excels in attacking the basket or pulling up for the mid range jumper against taller opponents possessing a good vertical leap. He labels himself as a defensive specialist often putting the clamps on opposing point guards to help his team succeed.
After being named to the all tournament team while playing in the Santa Cruz Shootout during Christmas break and often mentioned with the best players Tucson has to offer, he would like nothing more than for his team to be successful and make a little noise during this years 4A Arizona State Playoffs. He hopes to continue playing basketball after high school as he exemplifies himself as an outstanding student and model person for his community.
