5A-4A Top Ten.

After last week where everybody (except #1 Mesa) lost, this week featured few surprises, but there was still movement... 5A Top Ten:

#1Mesa—The Jackrabbits just keep winning, but now the rematches start. Dobson comes to Mesa looking to avenge an earlier blowout and on the horizon the Toros will host Mesa in a battle to see who will finish #1.

#2Mesa Mt. View—Easy wins over Cibola and Skyline prove nothing, hosting Dobson and Mesa will prime the Toros for Regional and State Tournament play.

#3Deer Valley—Beating Goldwater and SDO doesn't impress, and their weak schedule might hurt them when seeds are announced for the state tournament. To hold at #3 they'll have to beat Trevor Browne at home.

#4Brophy—A big loss in Tuscon against Salpointe showed the Bronco's only weakness is against big men (especially when traveling two hours to play against them), but came back to beat Horizon for the second time. They get a hot and cold Corona del Sol at home and then travel to St. Mary's for a rematch of the ‘Nickel Challenge' to end the regular season.

#5Highland—Went to Chandler (without Joey Shaw for two and a half quarters), and Hamilton and won both games, hold steady at #5, get those two again at home and a hot St. Mary's team. Could move ahead of Brophy even if the Broncos win out.

#6Salpointe—Huge win against (then #3) Brophy proves they can compete against Phoenix's best, but how much of that was the home court (and long drive) advantage? When Damir dominates and distributes they win.  Loss to Sahuaro hurts in the big picture

#7Dobson—Slip a spot despite winning both games this week. Can jump way up during the next two weeks as they go on the road against #1 and #2.

#8Trevor Browne—Alhambra and Goldwater were this week's victims, but the ‘Who's Better? Morrison or Hill' debate gets answered when TB goes to Deer Valley next week and a suddenly hot Marcos de Niza could pose problems.

#9Horizon—Lost to Brophy (again) but that means the only 3 losses are against Brophy (twice) and Mesa Mt. View. Not bad when everyone you lose to is in the Top 3.

#10Hamilton—Lost to Highland, can reestablish themselves as a contender with two against Chandler and a rematch against the Hawks.

On the Bubble:

St. Mary's—Maintained with wins against Dst. Mountain and Kofa, tough upcoming games against Horizon, Highland, and Brophy. Winning out might move them all the way to the top 5.

Marcos de Niza—Suddenly remembering how to play, now 10-4 with three straight wins. Could Kenny Ray Washington's leaving be addition by subtraction?

North—First appearance on this list since the preseason, they are 14-3 with eight straight wins. Weak schedule will hurt them in the power points. Lack of big time tests will hurt them come tourney time. 4A Top Ten
