Corona's TJ Benson

A true floor general, Corona's TJ Benson is fast becoming this season's version of Sunnyslopes' Jon Simon. Fast, tough, and smart.

TJ Benson is putting up solid numbers this season.  After a very successful junior campaign for Corona del Sol, and an awesome summer campaign with the Arizona Cagers - Benson's senior season is putting the complete package together.

Competing in a very balanced and tough Central Region, Benson has become a superior floor general; with great court vision, an incredible crossover and first step, and a beautiful stroke from way past the 3-point line. Over the past few games he has elevated his game even further averaging well over 20 ppg, and knocking off rival Marcos, and almost singled-handedly beating region champ Desert Vista.

Corona goes into the region tournament with a home game against Marcos, where he, and his solid team coached by Sammy Duane Jr. has a sure shot at advancing to the state 5A playoffs.  Regardless of their outcome, Corona, behind Benson's season long leadership, has garnered a Powerpoint final season ranking of #6.

With added weight during the upcoming summer months, this PG can become a carbon copy of all-stater Jon Simon from Sunnyslope. His stock has risen considerable this season, and is projected at a very high DII, or low DI prospect. Congratulations go out to this hard working senior.
