Devin Stewart is without a doubt the top 2005 PG in Tucson, and one of the tops in the state. With roots deep in Tucson basketball tradition, this player has come up through club ball with Sporting Chance, played on one of the best ever middle school teams in the state at Booth Ficket, and has traveled the country with the Arizona Stars.
Stewart led his Eagles team to an impressive season in the tough 4A Kino Region. As their leading scorer and assist man, Stewart has been the starting PG for Santa Rita since his freshman year. With many of their players heading to new rival school Cienega two years ago, Stewart and longtime teammate Kyle Carney stayed loyal to their school and have continued to improve each and every season.
This season gets them one step closer to the top of 4A. Behind Stewart's leadership, the Eagles knocked off Phoenix Thunderbird, the state's returning 4A champion, in the first round of the playoffs. They finished their season with an overtime loss to #2 Greenway. This bodes well for the Eagles, with Stewart returning one more season along with many of their top players. Stewart is tenacious on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. His 6'1", 175-pound frame of solid muscle defines this quick and explosive athlete. Stay tuned for this talent from SOAZ.
