4A Semi-Finals Results

Tonight at 7pm, AWA the 4A boys championships...

Saguaro v. Millennium---Game One

Saguaro went on an 11-0 run to start the game and never looked back.  The final score: 54-37.

Millennium's effort was disgraceful.  When I got home, I pulled out the Thesaurus to try and find comparison verbs to describe the Tiger's performance.  Listless, apathetic, hapless, lethargic………..all jumped out.

Millennium was so bad they drug Saguaro into the sewer with them and discredited any Sabercat credos.

Danny O'Boyle, Derek Tarapacki, and Justin Ashbaugh of course took full advantage of the Tiger's lay down, happy-to-be here sham.

Saguaro will be tested in the finals, for sure.

Shadow Mountain v. McClintock---Game Two

The Matadors had the Chargers right where they wanted them, up 37-30 at the half.

SM's running game frustrated McClintock.  The tempo was clearly in SM's favor.

Tock's Jermaine Calvin was on the bench with 3 fouls.  Javier Estrada had 3 fouls. Gabe Freeman had 2 fouls. Marcus Nicholson had 2 fouls.

SM had balanced scoring from everyone.

Then………..later in the 3rd period, SM slowed the tempo and tried to play a half court game with McClintock.  FATAL ERROR!

Even though Shadow Mtn. led 49-43 at the end of the 3rd, they had no idea what Gabe Freeman had in store for them.

Freeman exploded for 29 second-half points to lead the Chargers to a convincing 66-58 victory.  (Freeman had 43 total pts.)

Freeman scored 10 straight, unanswered points in the last 3 minutes of the game to give ‘Tock the trip to the Finals.  His last two points came on an exclamation point dunkeroo to stamp the envelope……..signed, sealed, delivered!

An amazing effort by Freeman, one of the best in Final Four history.
