40 time: 4.5
From: Tempe, Arizona
High School: Marcos de Niza
Through three games this year Marcos de Niza running back Terrance Hooks has ran for 532 yards and six touchdowns. Take into account the fact that his first game he only got the ball five times. "I was probably in for a total of 10 plays against Carl Hayden," explained Hooks. "We blew them out 52-0 and I had five rushes for 60 yards and two touchdowns."
In his last game in a win over Camelback, the Tempe RB sustained a minor setback. "I got a high ankle sprain towards the end of the game. I will deal with it and I expect to be back for our next game. I don't expect to be 100 percent but I don't want to miss any time."
His squad faces Mesquite on Thursday night. Marcos de Niza plays in the 5A classification, the highest in Arizona.
Hooks has received a few phone calls this month. "UTEP, Oregon State, Northern Arizona, Utah, Boise State, and Arizona State have called. ASU actually came by my school last Friday. I was going to go to their game on Saturday, but with the injury I decided to stay home and rest up a little."
He is interested in five schools right now. "I like Utah because they are starting to show a lot of interest. I still like UCLA but I have not heard much from them lately. After I attended their camp one of their coaches (wide receivers coach Dino Babers) called mine to request more info but I haven't heard from them on the phone this month. I like Oregon because they are sending a lot of stuff and UTEP is also looking good."
The fifth school on his current list is Arizona State. "I grew up here and they are the school I am most familiar with. I have always liked them. I know a lot of people that go there."
Hooks carries a 2.8 core GPA and scored a 19 on his ACT. He would like to major in Business.
