Wow! What a great line up of games this week. The games start out with what could be a classic as 5A #1 Hamilton hosts #3 Peoria Thursday night. There have been no questions in regard to Hamilton's offense this year. Any questions regarding their defense were answered last week when they held a talented Maryvale team to 128 total yards last week!! For Peoria see if the combination of QB Carlos Miranda to WR Clarence Wise can be effective enough to pull players out of the box to open up space for the talented tandem of Markus Turner and Keegan Herring. Herring was held to limited action last week due to an ankle injury but should go this week in this huge matchup.
The classics just keep coming as Friday #10 St. Mary's hosts #6 Brophy at Phoenix College. The Knights bring in one of the most diverse offenses in the state. Dante Johnson to John Means has become a very dangerous passing combination. This combination, along with a solid running game, make St. Mary's exposive on O. The challenge for St. Mary's will come in stopping Brophy's Markel DeVorce. DeVorce is averaging nearly 4 TDs a game!!
Our second front page game has #4 Red Mountain traveling to #8 Mt. View. With Channing Trotter and Greg Bird for the Lions and Tyler Mack and Stetson Banks for the Toros there is no shortage of big play players, but check out the trench battles in this one. The matchup between the talented D line of Red Mountain vs the always tough O line of the Toros should be fun to watch. Red Mountain's D line is anchored by big John Hargis and Mt. View's O line is lead by Dusty Jones.
Heading south undefeated #9 Canyon del Oro takes on the always dangerous Salpointe in a great Tucson matchup. We will also cover 4A # 8 Pinnacle as they host 3-1 Payson.
