Here we go again with this week's edition of Friday Night Phenoms

Let's start out with the signal callers with names that most high school football fans have heard from before.  First up on the list is Moon Valley's Brian Wriston, who continues to make a case for all-state consideration this season, going 18-25 for 301 yards and 6 touchdown passes in a 54-6 victory over Washington.  Down south, Sunnyside's Jamie Cota went 26-31 for 318 yards and 4 touchdown strikes and added a rushing touchdown for good measure in leading the top ranked Blue Devils over Ironwood Ridge.  Phoenix Christian's Josh Schlueter was a huge force on both sides of the ball throwing for 3 touchdowns and intercepting 2 balls defensively, in a 35-3 victory over Scottsdale Christian.  Peoria's Carlos Miranda led his team to victory with 276 yards and throwing a touchdown in the Panthers 40-3 victory over Tolleson.

As for the wide outs this week we are going with a theme of three, three young men who had impressive nights.  Let's start off with Demetri Mendez from Cesar Chavez who had 5 catches for 127 yards and 2 scores in a 62-13 win over Carl Hayden.  How about John Casale of Saguaro who contributed in his teams' victory with 3 catches for 70 yards and 2 TDs.  Finally, Yuma Catholic's Steve Arguelles who hauled in 3 catches for 123 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 35-7 win over Antelope.

How about the boys who do it with their legs. Anthony Groth of Cortez only had 107 yards rushing on the night but he found the end zone 7 times in a 68-14 win over Cactus Shadows.  How about Spencer Rothery from Chaparral who put up 152 yards and 5 scores in a 42-12 victory over Basha.  Thursday night Phenom Reno Blomquist pounded out 218 yards and 2 touchdowns during Chandler's win over Mesquite.  Gilbert's Bobby Ili rumbled to the tone of 177 yards and 3 scores in a 47-14 win for the Tigers.  Desert Vista's Chris Brogden, who is having a very good season, added 182 yards and 5 touchdowns to his season totals.  Lastly, Coronado's Eric Beltran ran for 188 yards and a score in a 21-0 win over Tempe.
