1A Championship Preview

Clifton v. Pima

Saturday, November 13 th at Fort Thomas High School

The Clifton Trojans are in the title game for the first time since 1960. The Pima Roughriders are making their second straight appearance.

Pima must stop Clifton's Alex Morales from scrambling when he is pressured. Against Orme, Morales would look deep then run with the ball. If Pima can stop him from running and force him to throw the ball they will win.

Clifton is worried about exactly the opposite. They must worry about not being worn down by the numerous Pima running backs. Clifton only dressed 13 players against Orme and if they can't stop the Pima run, they will be in for a long night.

Also you must look at the coaching history. Pima's John Bryant has been to numerous state finals with St. David and now his second in a row with Pima. Clifton has a first year head coach in Raymond Alvarez. This one could come down to a clutch play call by the coaches.

The only thing that is for certain, the stadium will be packed. Not only with Pima and Clifton fans, but with high school football fans from across the Gila Valley.
