The Full Court Press Tucson Showcase featured a number of top SoAZ Class of
2005. Here is the breakdown of the top performing seniors:
Tucson Full Court Press Shootout
Here are our picks for the top seniors
Top Seniors: (no order)
Kevin Cole. 6-1 Pueblo
Cole is a big time athlete, but he needs to capitalize on it more. A lefty who can shoot it from 3 or attack the glass. Can score in traffic and around the basket. More focus for 32 minutes and he can play at the next level. Will be Pueblo's top scorer. Rises above crowd. More experience and confidence and he is a 2005 top 30 player in Arizona. A rim rocker!
Garrett Case. 6-1 Cienga
Plays hard and gets involved in every play, aka- Steve Nash. Even resembles Nash with his long hair. A solid guard. Can shoot it from 18. Fundamentally sound. No flash, just plays basketball. Quickness and athleticism need improvement but can definitely play at the next level. Reminds me of Brian "Boomer" Roberts who ended up at Vanguard University in Los Angeles.
Quinten Jimerson. 6-4 Rincon
Big bodied bruiser. Athletic power forward who can score inside the paint. Shot range to 15ft. With a loss of 15 pounds, quickness and agility would improve. Needs to play the 3 at the next level with the weight loss. Skill work needed as well. A top player in Tucson as a PF, but future is a 3.
Luke Smith. 6-7 Mountain View
Athletic shot blocker. Thin. Needs court time to gain confidence and experience. A definite small college prospect. Weight room his ticket. 2 years at Pima JC could be what the doctor ordered.
Nick Holm. 5-11 Sahuaro
Solid. Plays hard. Can stroke it. Fundamentally sound. A DII prospect who will have a solid year. Will score in big numbers this year. Size a factor for this combo guard. Should be a "All Southern Arizona" player in 05!
Eli Silberman. 6-0 Catalina Foothills
Shooter who lit it up. Can catch and shoot it with the best. Plays hard. A 2 guard at the DII/NAIA level. Needs work with quickness and foot speed to defend at the next level. Strength a plus. An "All Region" player in 05.
Troy Blair. 6-3 Ironwood Ridge
Another wing stuck inside the paint due to lack of size at Ironwood Ridge. This will help Blair at the next level with ability to post up and score. Can shoot it from 17. Strong athlete who has hops. Ball skills need improvement for next level, but this will come with experience facing the basket. A Region POY candidate. Top 10 SoAZ player.
Jamal Bowleg. 6-4 St. Gregory
Bowleg is an athlete who is raw. PLAYS hard! Limited basketball skill, but a legit above the rim player. We have received calls on this DII future. Needs skill work in all areas, but Bowleg has tremendous upside.
Adam Harvey 6-5 St. Gregory
Harvey knows the game, plays hard but undersized 4 man. Lengthy future 3 man. Another solid DII prospect. Above average skill. Needs strength at next level but athletic! Played ok here, but showed more at the Showcase in Phoenix.
Michael Martin. 6-4 Desert View
Athletic wing. Plays above rim and defends with his long arms. Ball skills and shot need work for next level for this DI prospect. Runs the floor and finishes opportunities. Did not have his best showing here, but like Harvey, played well in Phoenix and made the top 25 all star game. A SoAZ POY candidate with focus and intensity. SoAZ's best athlete.
Kyle Sammons. 6-5 Cienga
Tough, hardworking inside player who battles everyone. Sammons just comes to play. Can finish in traffic. Limited shot range. A solid big man.
