Our next interview comes from Brophy DB Mike Callaghan. Last season he helped lead Brophy to a 2nd round play off appearance and earned 2nd Team All 5A honors on the way. Here is what he had to say…
What were your stats from last season?
Mike: I had a 114 tackles 4 INTs, running 2 back for TDs.
24-7: What is your official height and weight?
Mike: I'm 6'2 185 pounds.
24-7: What is your greatest football memory?
Mike: Beating St. Mary's this year best game I've ever been involved with.
What are your goals for the upcoming season?
Mike: My goals for the next season is just to make plays not worry about any State honor but just go make plays and do all I can and hopefully all those honors will come.
How are you preparing for the upcoming season? Will you attend any camps this
Mike: I'm preparing for next season by training at Power Train in Scottsdale Chad Ikea and Brian Armstrong run it Doug Dedrick also lifts there. I'm also lifting with Brophy and running track.
What aspect of your game have you really worked hard to improve? What area would
you like to keep improving on?
Mike: I'd say my leg strength I really worked on improving and my speed always needs to be worked on.
24-7: Who are some of your teammates that people need to watch out for?
Mike: Cole Graybill (TE/LB), Matt Smith (WR/DB), Tyler Chastain (OL/DL), Mike Gianola (WR/DB), Rahnee Dennard (RB/LB), Conor Hearn (QB), Andrew Serrano (FB/LB), Nick Natale (RB) and Steve Pursley all are good athletes and will make an impact.

Mike: I'm being looked at by
24-7: Who is the best player you ever played against? Why?
Mike: Greg Bird was a really hard runner and could catch along with Jermaine Williams huge and fast and Aazaad Muhammad very quick and shifty.
24-7: What are your best lifts in the bench, squat, power clean and 40?
Mike: Bench 270, Squat 355, Power Clean 245 and 40 is 4.65
24-7: Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Mike: My favorite athlete is Brian Dawkins because he hits hard as well as having good coverage skills.
24-7: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Mike: Just never to be happy with where you are always try to get better.
