Coaching at the NCAA Division I level as a recruiting coordinator for a top 20 program (Tulsa), recruiting a freshman point guard All-American at University of San Francisco, and coaching in the West Coast Conference for 7 years I have seen many pg's come and go. This one is a keeper.
Devin Stewart is a winner. Devin Stewart is a Mid-Major point guard right now. Devin Stewart has proven over and over again he can compete at the national level against the Country's best. This weekend he will be proving to all he does belong…AGAIN.
Friday night, he hit's the hardwood against the Reach Legends from Michigan in the 2005 Houston Kingwood Classic.
Stewart, 6-2 185 PG from Santa Rita High School (Tucson) runs the show for Arizona CTB. He has received feelers from programs including Georgia Tech, Tulsa, Bradley, Illinois State, Wyoming and a handful of other NCAA Division I schools. But still no bites. Saddleback Junior College (Southern California) has pursued him with a vengeance and looks to sign him to a LOI in the near future if nothing materializes.
Saddleback has produced DI point guards every year for the last 8 years, and Stewart will be #9.
Athletic and strong, he creates opportunities for his teammates most PG's take for themselves. He makes his team better, and wants the ball in crunch time. His defensive tenacity is unmatched in Arizona, and he can score.
If Stewart has any weakness it's his ability to hit the 16-18ft. jumper. Something that would elevate him into the HM category. Saddleback will provide the time to develop his stroke.
College coaches will be flocking over him after 2 years in SoCal. They should snatch him away now before it's too late.
Stewart has that kind of potential. the sky is the limit for this point guard who in the near future will be running the show for a High Major program who took the chance.
Updates on Stewarts recruitment will be here on PrepAZ.com
