Player Spotlight: Skylar Hagg

Interview with Ironwood playmaker

Our next player spotlight comes from Ironwood High School dynamic playmaker Skylar Hagg.  Last season Hagg put up over 1300 total yards and reached pay dirt 15 times.  Here's what he had to say

24-7: What were your official stats from last season?
Skylar: Receiving 726 yards rushing 654 yards TDs 15.

What is your official height, weight, bench and 40 time?
Skylar: Ht. 5'11'', wt. 170, bench 270 and 40 4.4.

What is your greatest football moment?
Skylar: When I scored my first TD against Deer Valley my sophomore year.

What are your strengths as a football player?
Skylar: Speed and vision.

What is your biggest weakness as a player?
Skylar: My size.

Who are some of your teammate people need to watch for?
Skylar: Tyrell Johnson, David Klucznik, Luca Bakemeier.

What are your goals for this upcoming season?
Skylar: Win state and be ranked in the nation as a receiver.

What are you doing to prepare for next season?
Skylar: Track and workout and actually some teammates and I run up a mountain.

What other sports to you play?
Skylar: I run track.

Who is currently recruiting you? Any early offers?
Skylar: Alabama, Nebraska, ASU, Northwestern, Oregon... and no offers.

How would your coach describe you as a player?
Skylar: Hopefully he would say I'm a good kid who gets along with everyone and a quiet kid that makes plays.

Who is your favorite professional athlete in any sport?
Skylar: Santana Moss is my favorite because he is small and fast like me but he is great.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever gotten?
Skylar: "Be nice but come game time you have to flip on that switch" from my Dad.

Who has been the most influential person in your life?
Skylar: Jesus Christ.

What can we expect from you this season?
Skylar: Championship and one of the top receivers in the nation.

Will you be attending any camps this summer?
Skylar: Yes, just not sure which one yet?

Name one opponent you really respect and why?
Skylar: The running back from Desert Vista (Chris Brogdon) and I respect their team because they all seem like great kids.

What are your goals as far as playing in college?
Skylar: My goal is to get a full ride scholarship to a university and of course to go to the NFL.

What do you like most about the game of football?
Skylar: To see all the other great players and the friendships; It's FUN.
