Player Spotlight: Kyle Mataszewski

Last year Kyle put together a strong junior campaign with 9 sacks and 56 total tackles.  Kyle hopes to help get Millennium back to the playoffs this upcoming season.  Here is our interview with Kyle.


24-7Football: What is your favorite thing about playing high school football?

Kyle Mataszewski: Friday nights.  Running out on the fields with fans going crazy and just hitting somebody.


24-7Football: What is your official height and weight?

Kyle Mataszewski: 6'1 215


24-7Football: What is your greatest football memory?

Kyle Mataszewski: My greatest football memory was being a freshman on the varsity team and making a sack


24-7Football: What are your personal goals for the upcoming season?

Kyle Mataszewski: To try and use my hands more and shed blocks so I can become Arizona's sack leader.


24-7Football:  How are you preparing for the upcoming season? Will you attend any camps this summer?

Kyle Mataszewski: I'm hitting the weight room everyday to get bigger, faster and stronger.  I'm attending the ASU camp.


24-7Football:  What aspect of your game have you really worked hard to improve? What area would you like to keep improving on?

Kyle Mataszewski: I'm really working on shedding blocks.  I really need to improve my hands and getting off the ball faster.


24-7Football: Who are some of your teammates that people need to watch out for?

Kyle Mataszewski:  Aaron Gentry RB, Chance Priddy RB, Dusty Willhite RB/WR, Daniel Cabrera LB, Dennis Givens DB/WR.


24-7Football:  Name one teammate you really respect and why?

Kyle Mataszewski: I really respect Dusty Willhite.  No matter what the situation he always gives 100% whether hurt or not.



24-7Football: What are your goals regarding playing football in college?

Kyle Mataszewski: To work hard and get a scholarship and a starting position.


 24-7Football: Would you consider staying in state to play in college?

 Kyle Mataszewski:  Yes, definitely.


 24-7Football: Who is the best player you ever played against? Why?

 Kyle Mataszewski: Richie Brockel.  He was really tough and knew how to hit.


24-7Football:  Name one team who you really respect and why?

Kyle Mataszewski: Mingus, they knew how to play as a team and never gave up.


24-7Football: What other sports do you play?

Kyle Mataszewski: Wrestling.


24-7Football:  What are your best max lifts in the bench, squat, power clean and 40 yard dash?

Kyle Mataszewski: 250 bench, 325 squat, 225 power clean and a 4.9 forty.


24-7Football: How do you think your coach would describe you as a player?

Kyle Mataszewski: A hard nosed football player who will always get the job done.


24-7Football: Who is your favorite pro athlete and why?

Kyle Mataszewski: Roy Williams of the Cowboys.  He loves hitting people and always keeps the intensity up.


24-7Football:  What is the best piece of advice you have ever received? Who did you receive it from?

Kyle Mataszewski:  "The more I train, the quicker I get.  The quicker I get the slower they seem.  The slower they seem, the easier the game.  The easier the game, the greater my threat.  The greater my threat, the more attention I draw.  The more attention I draw, the tighter they play me.  The tighter they play me, the more I train."  (ESPN Magazine)
