Paradise Valley at Hamilton
This game was billed as a
potential classic matchup, as both teams were ranked number 1 in their
respective divisions. But his game started off terribly for Paradise Valley and they were never able to get off
Only Hamilton would figure out
a way to score twenty points with only one offensive play. Sound ridiculous? Yes
The Hamilton defense forced a three-and-out on the
first possession of the game and the punt was blocked by DB Clarke Lamb. Brian Dean recovered it at the PV 15
yard line and on the ensuing play QB Colby Harris raced in for the first
score. The PAT was no good and the score was 6-0 with only 2 minutes off the
PV's next two drives didn't fair
much better. On the 2nd play of their 2nd possession,
Husky DB Josh Luck picked off PV QB
Stuart Walter and raced in 15 yards
for another score. As if things couldn't get any worse, Hamilton's Colin Parker blocked another punt on
the next possession. This one was recovered by Dontay Moch and the score was now 20-0
with less than 6 minutes off the clock.
The Trojans saw their only chance
for a score go wide right in the 2nd quarter. DB Adam Montleilh picked up a Hamilton fumble at the 22
yard line but the defense held strong and forced a 33 yard FG attempt that was
Hamilton added one more score
right before the half when Harris
found WR Kerry Taylor for a 10 yard TD strike to make
the score 27-0 at halftime.
The Huskies picked up right where
they left off in the 2nd half. Harris found Taylor for a 30
yard pass on the 2nd play from scrimmage and then they used Harris' and RB Cody Engelbrecht's feet to march in for
another score and make it 33-0.
The Hamilton defense scored one more touchdown late
in the 3rd quarter when, Luck picked off his second pass of the
game and raced 90 yards for a score. With the score now 41-0, both teams started
to run the ball to keep the clock moving and finish off the

I can't imagine another team being
as good as Hamilton. Their defense is fast and aggressive
and their offense is reloaded with weapons to make another run at a state title.
PV can't get too down on themselves, they play a very good North team this week
on Thursday and will have to regroup quickly. I still think PV is a good
football team, they just ran into the best team in AZ. PV always relies on a
strong run game and the Husky D completely shut that down. They still are
looking for a replacement for Andrew Leahy at WR to compliment their run game.
The Hamilton defense gets the nod here. They scored
three touchdowns for goodness sakes. Gerald Munns was the best player on the
field tonight. He was all over the field and in on virtually every tackle. It is not too often that a CB takes two
INTs to the house, so congrats to Josh
Luck for the accomplishment.
