Cactus v. Rincon

It was home coming Friday night at Cactus High School and the Cobras were not generous hosts to the Rincon Rangers.  In what was a game of undefeated teams, Cactus dominated from first whistle to the firework finale.

Quarter back Jonathan Tobin was 12 of 19 for 200 yards. 172 of those were in the first half.

Tobin started the scoring on the Cobra's first possession with a 10-yard QB keep. On their next possession Tobin hit Jordan Flores on a 17-yard pass route.  Richard Morris chewed up clock time in the second quarter and put a touchdown on the board to give the Cobra's a 21-0 lead at half.

On Cactus' first possession of the second half Jordan Flores scored the Cobra's only points on an 11-yard fly sweep.

The Cactus defense was quick and aggressive and kept Rincon in check most of the night. The Rangers had some success late in the third and most of the fourth quarters with a 10 minute possession. Rincon used a ball control offense and ground out three to four yards a pop on hard running by quarterback Memo Duarte and fullbacks Dominik Martinez and John Lepage. However they were unable to score. The Cactus second offense gave up and interception and the Rangers were able to get on the board late in the game.

Final score Cactus 28, Rincon 7.
