Friday night we will have a chance to look at some players we have not covered so far this year. First, we will travel to Scottsdale as Horizon takes on Desert Mountain. Horizon is currently undefeated. Keep an eye out for Horizon QB Dax Crum. Crum is rebounding from a roller coaster junior season with a player of the year worthy senior campaign. Crum has thrown for fifteen TDs and only four interceptions.
From there we will head west as Agua Fria hosts Bradshaw Mountain. Bradshaw Mountain head coach Chuck Apap must have had a big smile on his face when he found out that former Sinagua FB/LB Adam Beauchamp was moving a little south. The 6'0 230 pound Beauchamp is averaging over 190 yards rushing per game. Agua Fria hopes to keep the momentum gained from their first win of the season last week against Apache Junction. Apollo will host Cactus. If the Hawks hope to pick off 4AI #1 Cactus junior sensation Prince Amukamara will need to have a big night. Amakumara is currently averaging over twelve yards a carry, twenty-four yards per receptions and an astounding thirty yards per punt return. Down south Rincon will try to bounce back from a loss to Cactus last week as they travel to Ironwood Ridge. The Rincon ground game boasts three players who have rushed for over 300 yards. Ironwood Ridge counters with tough running senior Dakota McQuay.
As always keep your ears open for our reports on the AIA radio network and get on the message board and in the chat room so we can talk and hash out all of this week's results. The season is far enough along that we can now begin to sort contenders from pretenders. Also, our mid-season all state team will be coming out soon. It should have some names you are all familiar with and a couple of surprises.
