Horizon v. Desert Mountain

10/7/2005

Recap:

I showed up to the game with 30 minutes until kick off and there was no sign of Desert Mountain. The team bus did not show up until 5 minutes before kick off and the team did no warm-ups or stretching. Whether this was planned or not, I do not know but this game was all Horizon from the opening kick off.

Horizon's Gary Cooper returned the opening kick off 95 yards for a score to make it 7-0 Horizon with only 13 seconds ticked off the clock and the Huskies would never look back. The D forced a 3-and-out and went on a 10 play 56 yard drive behind the arm of QB Dax Crum. Crum was a perfect 4 of 4 for 39 yards on the drive. The series was capped off by a 1 yard Cooper run and a 2-point conversion pass from Reilly Sullivan to Dan Pela made it 15-0 midway through the 1st quarter.

The second quarter is when the game got out of hand. Horizon scored early in the quarter on a 21 yard Oscar Alvarez run to make it 22-0. Crum threw his 1st TD of the night when he hooked up with WR Reilly Sullivan for a 46 yard TD on the next series. K Stefan Demos added a 30 yard FG to make it 32-0 at the half.

Sullivan added another score in the 3rd quarter when he and Crum hooked up from 27 yards out. This made it 38-0 after a bad snap on the PAT. And this would be the final as both teams ran out the clock.

Final: Horizon 38  Desert Mountain 0

Bottomline:

Desert Mountain was outmanned, outplayed and outsized. The Huskies spread offense was too much for the Desert Mountain defense and the Wolves' double wing-T is not made for come from behind victories.

Game Balls:

Horizon QB Dax Crum was 15/25 for 233 yards and 2 TDs (0 INTs).

WR Reilly Sullivan caught 6 balls for 118 yards and 2 TDs. He also threw a 2-point conversion.
