Brophy V. St. Mary's Highlights Coverage

Here it is Brophy vs. St. Mary's!  Both teams are 6-1 sharing a loss to Westwood.  Brophy will need to overcome the departure of QB Conor Hearn but if you look inside the numbers Brophy is a running team.  Currently both Rahnee Dennard and Nick Natale average over six yards a carry.  Natale is just coming off a game where he rushed for over 200 yards.  The run success comes behind one of the top lines in the state led by Blake Behrens.  Defensively, Brophy is allowing right at thirteen points a game.  St. Mary's will counter with FB/LB Keaton Kristick.  Kristick has rushed for over 500 hundred yards this season.  Senior QB Aaron Verlinde also has go to players in Josh Felton and Andy Pacheco.  This one should be a barnburner as the winner could move to the top of the Desert Valley region.

Another 5A matchup will be a D1 D2 game as Maryvale hosts Ironwood.  Much of the attention for Maryvale centers on ASU commits Jermaine Williams and Brantwon Bowser.  Yet it is Ronald Huckaby who is quietly having a tremendous season. Huckaby is averaging nearly twelve yards a carry!  Along with Huckaby, Oscar Navarro is putting together a solid season at QB for the Panthers.  Since an early season stumble to Desert Vista, Maryvale has beaten opponents on average 48-14.  Ironwood is one point away from being undefeated thus far this season.  Since Skyler Hagg went down QB Luke Bakemeier has done a good job spreading the ball around to Tyrell Grant-Johnson and Eric Hagg.

On the west side undefeated Millennium will host 5-2 Lake Havasu.  This game will feature two of 4As most explosive backs in Millennium's Aaron Gentry and Havasu's Sean Michaels.  Michaels has rushed for over 900 yards while averaging a big thirty-seven yards per reception.  Gentry's stats are solid with nearly 1,300 yards from scrimmage but he is not alone, backfield mates Chance Priddy and Akio Lloyd both average over seven yards a carry.

Down south Canyon del Oro will host Sabino in a great 4A matchup. CDO is currently the #5 ranked team while Sabino is #6.  CDO's spread passing game is run by highly productive, yet underrated, QB Ryan Lush.  Lush has a great go to receiver in Aaron Tevis. Sabino after a tough two week stretch has rebounded scoring forty-two points in each of the last two wins. Glyndon Bolaskey got it rolling last week with 259 yards vs. Ironwood Ridge.  With a win, CDO can maintain control of the tough Sonoran region.

Other games to keep an eye on around the area are Highland v. Hamilton, Chandler V. Gilbert, McClintock V. Pinnacle and O'Connor V. Goldwater.
