Breakdown: (1 full game from senior season)
Positives: He is a big imposing player with a frame that could easily hold another 40 pounds. He has very long arms that will benefit him at the next level. He showed the ability to finish off defenders with a good nasty streak. That is one thing that stood out to me right off the bat, he can finish. He showed a good burst off the LOS that helped him drive several players off the ball. He also plays with a decent pad level for a kid that is 6'7.
Negatives: Like I stated earlier, Solot shows the ability to finish defenders. I would like to see him to do this at a little more consistent basis. He was strong in the 1st and 3rd quarters but wore down in the 2nd and 4th. At times he used his flippers (forearms) to block, this is something that can easily be fixed and will be a good weapon for him, since his arms are so long, he can use them to lock on to defenders.
He plays in a wing-t offense and isn't asked to pass block much. But when I saw him in pass pro he did not kick step well. He also struggled a bit getting to LBs. But when he did get to them and lock on, he often won the battle. I would like to see him waddle out to the 2nd level.
Plays left tackle but I think he is more of a right tackle prospect. His size tells me he is a tackle prospect and his feet are not quite what you would want at the left tackle position at the D1 level, leading me to believe he will play RT at UTEP.
I saw tape on him last year and he has improved leaps and bounds in the past year. It looks like he dedicated himself to the weight room to add the extra weight. He could benefit from a redshirt year but if he continues to improve at this pace, UTEP could have a real steal.
