Friday Night Phenoms

Week Ten's Heros

I said this last week and will say it again; big time players come up big in big time situations. This week's version of Friday Night Phenoms features a mix of old and new faces, let's honor the new guys first.

Dysart has struggled this season but this may be their best performance of the year. In a losing effort, QB Richard Kilgore passed for 300 yards and 4 TDs against Glendale. ASU commit Matt Mosely had a nice all purpose night. He had 71 yards rushing and 2 TDs and also returned an INT 99 yards for a score. Washington QB John Bowman was 20 of 35 for 348 yards but was outdone by Adam Beauchamp, who rushed for 270 yards and 5 TDs in Bradshaw's win over the Rams.

Plenty of solid QB play on Friday and we will start with Mingus' Jay Arthur. He is having a great season and is a major factor for the Marauders going into the playoffs as the #2 seed. He was 8 of 12 for 180 yards and 2 TDs and also ran for 3 more scores. But fellow 4A2 QB Kole Calhoun also had a great night passing for 333 yards and 4 TDs. Sunnyslope QB Sean Maraz was also solid passing for 255 yards and 3 TDs, Teammate TJ Campbell was the recipient of 15 catches for 227 yards for Slope.

Like always RBs dominate the Phenoms list. We will start with FNP regular Michael Moore from Mt. Pointe. He made the most of his 7 carries, going for 214 yards and 6 scores. Not to be outdone was Highland RB Ronald Young who had 132 yards and 3 TDs on just 5 carries. Sherrod Austin was spectacular in North Canyon's big win over Mt. Ridge. Austin went for 278 yards and 3 TDs on 31 carries. And another regaular to the list is Greenway's Kenton Thomas. KT rushed for 313 yards and 3 TDs for the Demons.

Two RBs quietly have great season's are Jack Alokpovi from Glendale and Sean Michaels from Havasu. Alokpovi went for 277 yards and 4 TDs while Michaels rushed for 221 yards and 3 TDs of his own.

And let's not forget the big guys up front. The Westview OL paved the way for 543 yards on 46 carries against Tolleson. Even more amazing was Westview passed zero times, so Tolleson knew what was coming. And last but not least, the Arcadia OL made holes for three 100 yard rushers.
