When Greenway QB Nathan Hodges lined his Demons up in a five wide set and saw Lake Havasu in man coverage a smile must of come across his face. Hodges quickly hit versatile RB Kenton Thomas for an eighty-eight yard TD and Greenway never looked back on the way to a 42 to 13 first round win over Lake Havasu. On their following possession, Lake Havasu would be given some reason for hope as their go to back Sean Michaels took off on a thirty-two yard scamper but the threat was soon extinguished and Lake Havasu would not find the end zone until late in the 3rd quarter against the Greenway reserves. The Greenway offense gave Millennium scouts plenty to look at as running backs caught passes and receivers ran the ball. QB Nathan Hodges even caught a sixty-seven yard pass from fullback Nick Certo. Kenton Thomas had a four yard TD run to go with his long TD catch and WR Dan Oakley had a fifty-seven yard TD catch and a nine yard TD run. The Demon D which has given up quite a few points this year, must have been happy to control the powerful Havasu run game to set up plays for the offense.
Bottom Line: The Greenway win sets up a rematch from week four of the season when Millennium beat Greenway 27-14. This game should be interesting. Millennium, the #2 seed, will from time to time, give up the big pass play. Look for coach Brown of Greenway to move his skill people all over the field to find the best matchup. With that said, the Greenway D will need to have another strong performance to stop the well rounded Tiger O led by RB Aaron Gentry and QB Kirtus Brais. Keep an eye on Greenway in the 2nd half, most of their top players players go both ways, while Millennium has a two platoon system. The Demons might be tugging at their shirts in the fourth. This one could be a shoot out.
Game Ball: Greenway QB Nathan Hodges may be one of the most underrated players in the state. The senior QB has made plays all year and found the right guy at the right time in the O. He will need to have a big night next week if the Demons want to advance past #2 seed Millennium.
