PrepAZ.com Top 10

Clayton Bates and co. have Corona del Sol sitting on top our PrepAZ.com Top 10 All Arizona...

PrepAZ.com Arizona's Top 10 (Overall)

#1 CORONA DEL SOL - 5AI

Record

14-0
Comments Coach Sammy Duane Jr. has the Aztecs playing the best basketball in the State.  Top teams find a way to win and the Aztecs did just that by winning the McClintock Tournament.  Sean Imadiyi named tournament MVP and getting better.
#2 DESERT VISTA - 5AI

Record

13-2
Comments Coach Doug Harris has his young pups playing at a high level.  Region play will provide the needed experience to make a run at the state title in March.  Jr. guard Garret Lever putting up big numbers and the spark for the Thunder
#3 MOUNTAIN VIEW - 5AI

Record

10-3
Comments Our favorite to win the title with all everything Harper Kamp at full strength.  Guard play still a question but Stephen Rogers (6-8 Sr.) playing the best basketball around.
#4 MOUNTAIN POINTE - 5AI

Record

9-1
Comments The surprise of 2005.  Nobody gave the Pride a chance to be in the hunt, but Coach Sam Ballard is magical with his X & O's.  Eric Hipolito (6-4 Sr.) is out with an injury, but Ballard's bench goes 7 deep.  With Justin Nelson (6-2 Sr.) back from injury, the Pride are dangerous and can beat anybody.
#5 DEER VALLEY - 5AII

Record

11-2
Comments Christian Polk (6-4 Sr.) is having an MVP year and taking his teammates along for the ride.  The favorite to win the 5AII title.  Losses to Chavez and Pinnacle will be redeemed by season end.
#6 BUENA - 5AI

Record

15-1
Comments Coach Dave Glasco had the Colts playing at a high level early on, with wins over #2 Desert Vista and #7 Gilbert.  Our pick for #1 in SoAZ, Glasco and co. need to stay sharpe in the 5A Southern to compete in the state playoffs.
#7 GILBERT 5AI
Record 12-3
Comments Winners of the Gilbert Tournament last week behind MVP Seth Richins.  Playing great basketball with a solid team effort.  Only losses to #1 Corona, #2 Desert Vista and #4 Mountain Pointe. The 5A Fiesta will tune them up for the battle in March.
#8 CHAVEZ - 5AI
Record 10-1
Comments Sorry, but we still have our doubts.  The PUHSD Tournament Championship starts today and will give us the truth about the run and gun Champions.  Momentum in late February (5A Metro Championship) could be just what the Doctor ordered.
#9 HORIZON 5AI
Record 12-3
Comments A solid 12-3 even after the injury to Jim Casey (6-4 Sr.).  Alex Miller (6-4 Jr.) and Phil Benson (6-8 Sr.) are taking up the slack but Casey's outside scoring is the Huskies key for success in February
#10 RINCON 4AI

Record

10-4

Comments Rincon won the Santa Cruz Championship this past week behind David Jackson (6-8 Sr.). Our lone 4A rep in the Top 10.  Playing high level hoops and our pick to win the 4A State title.
