24-7's 5A2 All State Team

See who 24-7 picked to represent the best from 5A2 football...

QB- Clay Busch- Desert Ridge- Accounted for over 3200 yards of offense and 32 scores.

RB- Brian Conley- Westview- Region's offensive player of the year averaged 11 yards per carry, rushed for 1400 yards and scored 15 TDs.

RB- Jovan Stevenson- Sunnyside- Carried the bulk of the load in helping SS reach the state finals.

WR- Justin Murray- Desert Ridge- Senior had 56 catches 1156 yards and 14 TDs.

WR- T.J. Simpson- Peoria- One of state's top recruits had 45 catches for 872 yards and 9 scores.

TE- Paul Patino- Westview- Team's leading receiver caught 19 balls for 371 yards and 3 scores.

OL- Zack Schlink- Centennial- One of the most impressive juniors I saw this year. Schlink will be a D1 prospect next year.

OL- Steve Haley- Desert Mountain- All region on both sides of the ball, 300 pounder being courted by several D1 schools.

OL- Guy Reynolds- Westview- Another junior that has D1 written all over him. Big and physical with good feet.

OL- Brandon Harris- North Canyon- Two time all state selection was a key to Scott's success.

OL- Isaac Villa- Sunnyside- Not your typical Sunnyside player, in that he has size to go along with being physical and tough.

K- Alex Zendejas- Ironwood- Hit from 59 this year! Takes bazooka foot to UofA next year.

DL- William Yancy- Ironwood- Ironwood changed how they used Yancy this year, using him more as a run stopper playing over the TE but that didn't stop him from making plays all over the field with his non stop motor.

DL- Tom Ramsey- Centennial- Stump of a DL had 90 tackles and 10 sacks from his NT spot.

DL- Kris Poindexter- Westview- Two way linemen will take his game to NAU next year.

DL- Jimmy Klingensmith- Marcos de Niza- Not too often a guy known for punting has 83 tackles and 13 sacks.

LB- Eric Williams- Tolleson- Standout on both sides of the ball recorded 80 tackles on D.

LB- Zach Hernandez- Deer Valley- 99 tackles and 13.5 sacks for all region pick.

LB- Zach Holmes- Sunnyside- Region's defensive player of the year says a lot when you have 5A1 teams mixed in the region.

DB- Eric Hagg- Ironwood- Could justify having Hagg on either side of the ball. Two way standout is headed to Nebraska next year.

DB- Tariq Smith- South Mountain- Region's Player of the Year was dynamite on both sides of the ball.

DB- Jordan Scott- North Canyon- Recorded 8 picks on D on top of his offensive numbers.

DB- Jeff Hughes- Centennial- 1st team all region pick was another two way star.

P- Jimmy Klingensmith- Marcos de Niza- Good on both O and D, why not as a punter as well. Averaged over 40 yards per punt.

All Purpose- Jordan Scott- North Canyon- Scored 28 TDs, rushed for 1400 yards, had 8 picks and a dangerous return man.

Return- Warren Johnson- Centennial- Possibly the smallest player to take the field each week but not many are as dangerous as Johnson on returns.

Coach of the Year- Richard Taylor- Centennial

Player of the Year- Jordan Scott- North Canyon
