Player Spotlight: Jake Muasau

Scout.com has a Q&A with WR Jake Muasau from Buena HS (Sierra Vista, AZ).

Scout.com: What were your stats/honors from last season?
Muasau: "My stats were 50 tackles, 2 picks and 2 forced fumbles at DB. I had 18 catches for 415 yards and 7 TDs. I got 1st team All Southern region DB and 2nd team All Southern region WR. Also according to 24-7football.com I am a 1st team All State (5A2) DB."

What is your official height and weight?
"I'm 6-2 205 lbs."
 
What is your greatest football memory?
"When I had a diving TD catch in the endzone, it was probably one of the best catches in high school."
 
What are your goals for the upcoming season?
"To be a great leader and to be humble to opponents. Just to do the best I can and give 100% every play."
 
How are you preparing for the upcoming season? Will you attend any camps this summer?
"I'm lifting everyday. I will attend the Nike camp and B2G camp this summer"
 
What aspect of your game have you really worked hard to improve? What area would you like to keep improving on?
"I've really worked on my first step off the ball at WR. I'm more explosive now. I would like to keep improving on my hands and moves after the catch."
 
Who are some of your teammates that people need to watch out for?
"I'm pretty sure everyone knows our RB Jamal Womble but we also have another RB David Alexander, a TE Nick Stewart and a LB Jon Sayler."

Name one teammate you really respect and why?
"I'd say Jon Saylor. He is only a sophomore but he leads as if he's a senior. He works hard in the weight room and works hard in the book, great kid."
 
What are your goals regarding playing football in college?
"Just to get my education payed for through football."
 
Who is currently recruiting you? Do you have any offers yet?
"Oregon, Ohio St, UCLA, CAL, Oregon St, Colorado and Utah. No I have no offers yet."
 
Would you consider staying in state to play in college?
"It doesn't matter, as long as I play football at the D1 level."

What would your top 5 college choices be?
"Ohio St, Arizona, USC, UCLA and Oregon."
 
Who is the best player you ever played against? Why?
"UofA signee Devin Veal. He is a great athlete. He's fast and quick. He's a great leader and a great person."
 
What other sports do you play?
"I play basketball and track." 

What are your best max lifts in the bench, squat, power clean and 40 yard dash?
"Bench: 255, Squat: 415, Power clean: 225 and 40: 4.51.
 
How do you think your coach would describe you as a player?
"A great athlete and a great person. My work ethic is improving a lot."
 
What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?
"My strengths are my hands and my routes. My weakness is giving 100% every play."
 
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
"God first, family second, grades, then football."
 
Tell us what can we expect from your team this season?
"A stronger team then last year's and a team that will strive to be the best they can be."

What position do you think you will play in college?
"I would like to play WR, if not, then I'll be playing FS."

What can a college program expect from you as a player?
"A player that will get the job done and wants to get better everyday."
 
What is your GPA and SAT/ACT score?
"3.0 GPA. I don't know my SAT scores yet."

What will the main factors be when you choose a school?
"How many of it's student-athletes does the school graduate."
