Last season, Nebraska recruited the state of Arizona very hard. Coach Bill Busch, who recruits Arizona for NU, did a fantastic job landing six players from the Grand Canyon State. It looks like Busch and the Huskers are at it again. Already extending offers to Gerell Robinson and Ray Polk, Nebraska offered teammates Jamal Womble and Jake Muasau from Buena HS (Sierra Vista, AZ).
Womble is currently the more known player, earning 2nd team all combine honors at the Scout.com junior combine in San Antonio. He currently holds offers from Oregon State and Boston College. He also says that Louisville may be close to offering.
The offers from NU and BC immediately throw them into his top seven, in talking to him today.
Last season, the 5-10 212 pound Womble rushed for 1,230 yards and 14 TDs while being named 2nd team all region.
Here are highlights from Womble's junior year:
Nebraska is the first to offer Muasau but he says he is also hearing from Oregon State, Arizona and UCLA.
Muasau could be this year's Eric Hagg as he is a standout on both sides of the ball. He was a 1st team all region selection at DB, recording 50 tackles, 2 INTs and 2 forced fumbles. He was also a 2nd team all region wideout, making 18 catches for 415 yards and 7 TDs.
He shows good leaping ability and good hands and WR but he may end up on the defensive side of the ball as an outside linebacker or strong safety. He is currently 6-1 205 and has a frame that could easily hold 20 more pounds. If he can keep his sub 4.6 speed, defense might be his calling.
Muasau says that Nebraska is now his current leader.
