Recruiting Update: Patrick Jamison

With four new offers this week, recruiting has really heated up for OL Patrick Jamison from Hamilton HS (Chandler, AZ). He gives Scout.com the latest.

Offensive tackle Zach Schlink has been the hot name in regards to Arizona offensive line recruiting but offensive tackle Patrick Jamison is a close second. Recruiting has really heated up for the 6-5 290 pound Jamison and Scout.com had a chance to sit and talk with Pat about his latest offers and his favorite schools.

Jamison held offers from Arizona State and UNLV and this week Utah, Washington State, Boise State and Oregon State all jumped aboard and offered. Here is what Jamison had to say about each school.

On Utah

"I don't know a whole lot about them. I talk to Coach Dickey a lot. He is excited about trying to get me there. It is a school I still need to check out."

On UNLV…

"Another school I don't know much about. All I really know is they are on the strip. Coach Bernardi writes me letters. He has been on it."

On ASU…

"Great program. ASU is definitely at the top. I know a lot of their players. I like the new staff. I like Coach Erickson a lot. He has been to some of my spring practices. I like Coach Stretz."

On Oregon State

"I know a little about them. They have been in the media. Coach Cavanaugh is a good guy. Mike Riley came out to one practice. I would say they are second."

Oregon State has recruited Arizona very hard and been successful over the past few years. Two years ago they pulled six players out of the desert. From that class they landed JUCO standouts Gerard Lee and Clinton Polk from Scottsdale Community College and linebacker Keaton Kristick out of St. Mary's two years ago. Last year offensive tackle Rory Ross from Peoria HS signed with the Beavers. Pat was asked if the high number of Arizona kids on OSU's roster would effect his decision. He stated, "Not so much. It is cool to see Arizona guys but going to college you see new things and meet new people."

On Boise State

"Coach Huff is a good guy. He just shoots the breeze, he doesn't blow smoke. He is different then other coaches. He is from here (prepped at Horizon HS) and played at Boise. He coached at ASU under Koetter. He knows the best of both worlds. I would say they are third."

On Washington State

"Another school I don't know much about. I talk to the coach a little. They want me to camp there. I haven't talked to them much since they offered."

One school that hasn't offered but Jamison would be very interested in is UCLA. He states, "If they offered, they would be one or two with ASU."

So what is Jamison looking for when choosing a school?  He says, "A good education. I want to major in business or finance. ASU is good in that." He continues, "Location will not matter much."

One key note from talking to Jamison is he stated that he will probably commit early. He says, "I am planning on committing early, probably right before the season." He says he will take some unofficial visits this summer as well as attend a few camps and that will help him decide. He says he will attend the Nike Camp in Eugene, ASU on June 3rd, may be camp at Cal, Arizona camp on June 10th. He says that the UofA coaches have told him they may offer with a good showing at their camp. He also has a trip planned out to Notre Dame. "My offensive line coach wants to get all the linemen together and all go out to their three day camp."

He claims a best bench of 350, squat of 475, 275 pound power clean and a best forty of 5.0. When asked what his strengths were as a player he responded, "Fundamentals."

Jamison looks solid academically. He holds a cumulative GPA of 3.3 and will take the SAT on June 2nd.
