Recruiting Update: David Blair

Linebacker David Blair from McClintock HS (Tempe, AZ) had a lot of college coaches stop by during spring evaluation. Three have emerged as early favorites.

Linebacker David Blair from McClintock High School plays with fire and passion. He has a nose for the football and a knack for making big hits. It is no surprise that Blair estimates that four coaches a day for three weeks stopped by Tempe to evaluate the 6-1 220 pound hitter.

Army, UNLV and San Diego State extended early offers and the Aztecs and the Rebels are Blair's current leaders.

Blair took time off of his training to have some fun in Disney Land last weekend and really liked the California atmosphere. He says, "Nice weather and nice environment. All I hear is good things (about SDSU). The more I talk to people, the more excited I get."

Blair recently camped in Las Vegas and came away impressed. About the Rebels he says, "It's a nice place. It is ten degrees cooler the Phoenix. It has a lot of excitement and a lot to do…it's Vegas." Last Sunday he attended a big man competition and was able to tour the facilities beforehand and during the camp was able to work with the linebackers coach.

Army was the first school to offer and Blair says they are still in the running but the military experience is a concern. He comments, "Army is right in there but it is a big commitment because you have to serve after."

Blair says that SDSU and UNLV will be places that he visits officially. He also says that Arizona State and Oregon State are two other schools that have expressed early interest. The Beavers are potentially interested in him as an outside linebacker and ASU's level of interest has declined recently. Neither have offered and Blair doesn't think that they will.

Don't expect a commitment from Blair anytime soon. "I want to wait and see how the season goes and take some visits" he states.

David describes himself as "a big hitter. I am always flying around the ball. I have the instincts to know where the ball is."

Blair reports a 3.5 cumulative GPA before last semester's grades and has taken the ACT but has not received his score back yet.

Here are clips of Blair from his junior season. He makes a lot of big hits and is also a punishing fullback. He wears #7:
