2007 Preseason LB Rankings

McClintock's David Blair made 24-7Football.com's preseason linebacker rankings. See where Blair and others rank inside...

Typical of Arizona, there are a lot of tweener type kids in the linebacker group. There are four players that currently hold offers and quite a few could earn scholarships if they are productive this year. This list could change dramatically as the year goes on if some of the "Risers" are as productive as I anticipate.

Remember these rankings are always changing and I am always re-evaluating. They are in no way set in stone and I have no issues about jumping an unranked into my top 15. Go on the message boards and discuss. Link.

1. David Blair- McClintock- 6-2 220- Blair was named 1st team all region for the second time last year after recording 120 tackles. Kid will pop you on either side of the ball. Holds three offers now and I am sure more will come.

2. Elliott Harper- Hamilton- 6-1 230- Manned the middle of Hamilton's D last year and was named 1st team all region after racking up 92 tackles, 3 sacks and 3 FRs.

3. Travis Trickey- Round Valley- 6-4 220- The best linebacker in the state that no one has heard about. Will be a 4 year starter, 4 time all region pick and 3 time all stater. Had 118 tackles and 1 sack as a junior. Holds an offer from UNLV.

4. Dante Sellers- Deer Valley- 6-3 215. Has split time between QB, DE and LB which shows his athletic ability.

5. Brenin Brooks- Greenway- 6-0 205- I talked about Trickey's accolades well Brooks' might be more impressive. He will be a 4 year starter and 4 time all region pick this year. Had 94 tackles and 3 sacks last year and doubles as a good TE.

6. Tyler Miller- Buckeye- 6-0 200- Named his region's defensive player of the year after recording 125 tackles. A bit on the small side from a recruiting stand point but he can play some football.

7. Tyler Juede- Shadow Mountain- 6-0 205- Very productive from his LB/SS hybrid spot. Had 139 tackles, 2 sacks and 1 INT last year.

8. Moses Roberts- Salpointe- 5-9 190- If this kid was 6-1 220, he might push for the top LB spot.

9. Damien Baca- Camp Verde- 6-0 210- Baca does everything for Camp Verde. He had 118 tackles, 3 INTs and 1 sack on D and had 1808 yards rushing and 24 TDs on offense.

10. Matt Rios- North canyon- 6-1 230- Is being recruited as a long snapper but is a very good LB.

11. John McDonald- Seton Catholic- The East Valley Tribune named McDonald to their 1st team. It will be interesting to see how he does against 4A2 competition.

12. Robert Robbins- O Connor- 5-11 215- Two way all region pick gets after it. Very under-rated LB.

13. Johnny Carrasco- Millennium- 5-11 190- Very productive with 90 tackles and 9 sacks and looks to be a leader on a much improved Millennium team.

14. Matt Young- Independence- 6-0 200- Tackling machine had 112 tackles and 2 sacks last year and was honorable mention all state.

15. Mike Madrid- Highland- 6-0 230- Recorded 96 tackles last year for Highland.

1. Kurt Mangum- Chandler– 6-1 220- Played DE for Hamilton last year and was productive with 42 tackles and 5 sacks. He moved schools and positions and created a buzz with excellent performances at various combines and camps. I would like to see him in pads before I rank him at LB.

2. Mike Sadoway- Desert Vista- 6-5 220- Very big and can run. Coach Hinds is going to play him at OLB and feels he can be a D1 player with a good season.

3. Melvin Douglas- Dobson- 6-0 195- Played a variety of positions last year but projects as an OLB in college. Good looking athlete.

4. Klayton Kristick- St Mary's- 6-1 225- Spent time at TE, DE and LB last year. Kids this big that can run rarely get overlooked.

5. Cody Adams- Mohave- 6-2 210- 1st team- When was the last time Mohave had a college prospect? Moses Love? He could be the next.
