When the 2A Metro region was dissolved in the AIA realignment, Bourgade Catholic and Northwest Christian made sure they would continue to play one another despite being placed in different regions.

to avenge last season's 21-7 loss to the Golden Eagles while Bourgade Catholic
looked to get their offense on track after a slow first game win against a
In last year's loss to Bourgade, Northwest quarterback Jacob Franz threw 50 times, completing 20 while getting intercepted twice. The Crusaders were hoping an improved running attack led by junior Ross Stanley would keep them from filling the air again.
Bourgade knew they had to stop junior all-state tight end Adam Mosbrucker, or at least contain him, to stop the Crusader offense.

When quarterback Michael Vyles did put the ball on target, his receivers dropped several. Junior's David Flores and Robbi Garcia played strong as did defensive tackle Grant Harper until he was hurt.
