Friday Night Phenoms

This week's edition of Friday Night Phenoms has team efforts and great special team's play that highlight the week

As usual, highlights the top performances of the week in our Friday Night Phenoms.

I am going to give my first shout out to the entire Dobson football team. People expected their game versus Chandler to be a good one but no one could have predicted a 39-0 outcome. They played nearly perfect in all aspects of the game.

Another great group effort was the Willow Canyon defense. They held Tolleson to 35 yards of total offense and negative yards rushing.

I always start with QBs but there were some great special team's performances. La Joya's Jeremiah Cornist blocked an amazing three punts and a field goal in their win over Kingman.

North's Dylan Peralta took not one but two kickoffs to the house against Marana Mt. View.

You have to give props to Notre Dame's Brandon Hirneise and Sean Renfree for their Hail Mary touchdown pass with 3 seconds to go t beat Bradshaw Mountain.

In a losing effort, you have to give Jarrell Barbour credit. He was fantastic against Hamilton with a punt return and a receiving TD.

Mingus' Layton Dickerson continues to have a great year. In the Marauder's win over Desert Edge, Dickerson rushed for 103 yards and just 6 carries and scored a TD. He also had 103 yards receiving on 3 catches and scored 2 TDs in the air.

Junior RBs Mike Brown from Cactus and Jamal Miles from Peoria are battling it out to make claim on who is the top rusher in their region. Brown rushed for 124 yards and 3 scores against Cactus Shadows and Miles went for 144 yards and 3 TDs against Independence.

Here is an example of making the most out of limited opportunities. Mt View RB Ernie Perea rushed for 105 yards and scored 2 TDs on his 2 carries for the night. He also returned an INT for a TD.

Arizona Luthern's Josh winter went just over 200 yards and scored 2 TDs on just 12 carries against SCA.

Other solid performances for on the night include:

-Corona del Sol's JR Hamm rushed for 185 yards and 3 TDs

-In a losing effort, Westiew's Reggie Nicholson rushed for 188 yards on just 17 carries.

-Thunderbird QB Chris Womack was 17 of 23 for 233 yards and 2 TDs.
