Agua Fria v. Saguaro

Saguaro got the scoring going early and never looked back

A battle of undefeateds as both Saguaro and Agua Fria came in 2-0 in this rematch of last year's 4A semi-finals.

Agua Fria got the ball first and QB Paul Patterson hit Cedrique Smith for a 15 yard gain right off the bat but that is all the Owls could muster and they punted the ball away.

Saguaro QB Tim Ruben went straight to work, scrambling for 12 yards then hitting Josh Boughter for 15 more. Ruben hooked up with WR Paul Porras for 12 more and after only six plays from scrimmage RB Justin Shelton took it the distance from 41 yards out. PAT was good and just like that it was 7-0 Saguaro.

Agua Fria fumbled the ball on their first play and Sgauro recovered at the 35 yard line. This Owl defense saw a lot of Beau Burton on this series. Burton had a 5 yard run, a 15 yard pass from Ruben and a 10 yard TD run to make the score 14-0.

Agua Fria looked like they were going to join the scoring. RBs Chris Ferrer and Cedrique Smith had a lot of success and the Owls got in the red-zone. An incomplete pass on 4th and 1 ended what turned out to be their best drive of the night.

Saguaro went right back to business driving nearly 90 yards in 11 plays to make it 21-0 Saguaro early in the 2nd. The drive was highlighted by a 30 yard Ruben run and a 30 yard Porras run. Ruben finished the drive with a 1 yard TD run.

Saguaro got on the board two more times in the first half. Ruben added his second TD of the night with another 1 yard TD scamper and Ruben found Porras for a 50 yard TD pass.

Score at halftime was 35-0 Saguaro.

Saguaro got the ball after the half and went right back to business. They marched 80 yards in 5 plays to make it 42-0. Beau Burton had a 30 yard run and Tim Ruben a 44 yard run. Justin Shelton got the TD from 1 yard out.

On Agua Fria's next possession, Saguaro DE Derek Bisgard stripped the Owl RB and took it 40 yards to the house. Score now 49-0.

Shelton added one more score near the end of the 3rd to make it 56-0.

That would be the final. 56-0.

Saguaro is freakin' loaded! They are two deep at RB. Have a big and physical offensive and defensive line. Porras is nice at WR and Ruben is tough to defend at QB. They will be tough to beat.

Agua Fria was without their best player, Derrick Ross. He broke some fingers and losing him hurts. AF is feisty and play hard but they are small and have some depth issues.

Game Balls

Tough to give but I will go with Tim Ruben. He was accurate when he had to pass and ran the spread offense to perfection tonight.
