Who strapped it up on Friday night and came out swingin'?

Player of the week


Sunnyside's Jovan Stevenson rushed for 276 yards and 2 TDs and had 117 yards receiving and 3 more TDs.


There were many great performances so I will just list them by category




Pinnacle's Evan Johnson was lights out against Marcos. He had 270 yards passing and 1 TD and 102 yard rushing and 3 TDs.


Gerell Robinson was good at multiple positions again. He has 135 yards rushing (1 TD), a passing TD and 3 catches for 50 yards and another score.


Thunderbird QB Chris Womack has quietly pt together a nice season. On Friday he was 12 of 20 for 268 yards and 4 TDs,


Westwood's Brandon Large was big in the warriors upset over Dobson. He accounted for over 300 yards of offense and 4 TDs.


No one was bigger than Saguaro's Tim Ruben. He had 180 yards passing and a TD and rushed for 135 yards and 4 more scores.


One of the state's top passers is Round Valley's Hayden Eager. He was big again on Friday, going 12 of 24 for 253 yard and 3 TDs.


Sean Renfree went off again for Notre Dame. He had 257 yards and 3 TDs but more importantly has not thrown a pick yet this year.


Sunnyside's Jamie Valdez passed for 261 yards.


A first on our Phenoms list, Pueblo QB Adrian Apilatgui had 235 yards passing and 4 TDs in their loss to Marana.


In the same game Robert Rowe, Marana's QB, rushed for 170 yards.


Our last QB is Rio Rico's Lucas Meza. He had 339 yards and 3 TDs in their loss to Douglas.




Quinn Evans had a break out night for Basha. He rushed for 140 yards and 3 TDs in just 12 carries in the Bear's win over Brophy.


Another Evens, Harrison Evens from Marcos was huge in the Padre's win over Pinnacle. He had 5 catches for 95 yards and 1 score, including the game winning 51 yarder and had 81 yards rushing and a TD.


Red Mountain's Jarison Johnson put up huge numbers again. He rushed for 203 yards and 1 TD and had another kickoff return for a score.


Reggie Nicholson from Westview had 176 yards and 4 TDs in just the first half against Sunrise Mountain.


Jamal Miles from Peoria had another big night, going for 132 yards and 3 TDs against Copper Canyon.


Super sophomore Tyree Parker from Paradise Valley rushed for 208 yards and 4 TDs against McClintock.


Devon Kennard is better known for his exploits at DE but rushed for 2 scores on Friday versus St. Mary's. He also picked up a fumble and raced to the house for another.


His teammate Allante Battle broke out for 197 yards and 2 scores.


Independence lost to O'Connor but Tyquan Wilson had 200 yards and 1 TD in that game.


Mike Liggins from Camelback has been a little quiet this year. He had 174 yards rushing, 1 TD and 78 yards receiving and 2 more scores Friday.


Our leading scorer on Friday was Wickenburg RB Kellen Henderson. He had 5 TDs and 170 yards versus Chino Valley.


Mt. Pointe's Marquese Wheaton has been good all season. He had 162 yards rushing and 2 TDs. He also had an INT for another score.


Another big performance down in Tucson came from Dan Moore from Marana Mt. View. He rushed for 328 yards and 4 TDs against Casa Grande.


Final RB for today. Nogales' Andy Garcia had scoring runs of 65, 22 and 16 against Sahuaro. Nogales is still undefeated.




TE Jason Barkac from Marcos was huge on Friday. He had two receiving TDs and picked up a fumble and raced to the house for another.


Same game, Pinnacle's Max Zemezonak had 6 catches for 124 yards and 1 TD.


Dion Jordan had 124 yards and 1 TD on 6 catches versus Highland. He also blocked what turned out to be the game tying extra point.


O'Connor WR Spencer Brown had 4 catches for 111 yards and 2 TDs against Indy.


TE Lucas Reed from Sabino had another big game. He had 5 catches for 109 yards and 1 TD.




The Greenway defense was huge against Washington. They had 6 INTs and 1 fumble recovery.


Glendale's Danny Connors had 5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery and 2 INTs against Cortez.


CDO safety Derek Matlock had 2 INTs and 1 went to the house against Catalina Foothills.


Salpointe's Moses Roberts was big in their 7-6 defensive battle with Ironwood Ridge. He had 3 sacks and 1 fumble recovery.


Last but not least, the kicker.


Skyline's Jared Smith kicked the game winning 51 yarder against Desert Ridge as time expired.


And not to be outdone, Mt Ridge's Jeff Locke was good from 56 yards against Yuma.
