Desert Vista v. Chandler

Desert Vista pulls off the upset and avenges early season loss

DV was looking for revenge for the tough loss they received from Chandler earlier in the season and Chandler was coming out with all the stops trying to defend their home turf.

Chandler started off with the ball and drew first blood with a nice pass play from Peyton Lacivita to Steven Jackson to give the Wolves the early lead.

Desert Vista returned the favor on the next drive and scored on a fake reverse featuring the speed of Allante Battle. Score now tied and that is hw the half would end 7-7.

Going into the half with the score tied at 7, this was very reminiscent of the game played earlier this season, woudl the outcome be the same?

It didin't turn out that way as the second half would all be Desert Vista. They used nice plays pounding the football down the middle from Chris Jones and Devon Kennard and utilized theur speed with sweeps to the outsides coming from Battle, Luke Matthews, Pat Johnson, and Marcus Washington. This balance kept Chandler on their toes and ate up the clock.

Chandler would go ahead and score one more time, but in the end it would not be enough. The Thunder got two second half TDs from Matthews and their defense held Chandler's offense in check for the better part of the second half. The defense topped off the game with a defensive touchdown from Devon Kennard after he sacked Lacivita, forced a fumble and scooped and scored to put the nail in the coffin.

Final Desert Vista 31 Chandler 14
