Friday Night Phenoms (11/11/2007)

The playoffs are in full effect with all classifications now participating. Every game is even more crucial. I want to highlight the best of the best in this week's edition of Phenoms.

Player of the Week

Westwood RB Ben Ochoa stepped up in the Cox 7 spotlight. Against Mt. Ridge, Ochoa rushed for 302 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was also big on defense.

Tim Ruben once again had a great night for Saguaro. He accounted for 6 scores against Agua Fria. On the ground he had 5 carries for 136 yards and 3 TDs. He was 5 of 5 for 3 more scores through the air.

Another Scottsdale QB was huge in round 1. Chaparral's Spencer Stone was 8 of 11 for 306 yards and 4 TDs. He also had 1 rushing score versus Lake Havasu.

Centennial's Scott Burgett went 9 of 13 for 253 yards and 3 scores in the Coyotes 1st round win over La Joya.

Westview's run game was on fire against Skyline. Leading the way was Reggie Nicholson, who had 259 yards and 4 TDs.

Basha's Quinn Evans had 5 TDs, four rushing and 1 on a kick off return against Dobson. His heads up play on a Mike Benjamin fumble gets him on this list. Evans scooped up the fumble and raced 50+ yards for the winning TD.

Santa Rita's Aubura Taylor helped his team beat Coronado in OT with 229 yards and 5 scores.

In a win over Bisbee, St. John's Shad Bride carried the ball just 9 times but on those 9 carries he had 201 yards and 4 TDs.

McClintock pulled off the biggest upset when they beat #2 seeded Cactus. Malcolm Martin caught 7 passes for 171 yards and a TD in that game.

Spencer Stone's go-to guy all season has been Mike Cummings. Cummings tore up Havasu's secondary for 181 yards and 3 scores.

Led by DE Kharyee Marshall, Washington's D held Greenway to 11 total yards and sacked the Demon QB 12 times. Marshall had 5 sacks, 7 tackles and 5 TFLs.

I know there were a lot of great performances on Friday but like I said, I wanted to highlight the best of the best. Go on our message boards and let us know who else stood out. Link.
