Friday Night Phenoms

Highlighting the best of the best in this week's playoff edition of Phenoms.

Player of the Week

I don't care that Round Valley lost. Their QB Hayden Eager set a state record on his 37 of 62 537 yards performance against Coolidge. He also set a 3A state record with 3,597 yards for the season.

QB

With Ray Polk out, Bryan Berens as asked to step it up versus Corona and that he did. He went 17 of 26 for 223 yards and 3 TDs.

In roughly 3 quarters of work versus Queen Creek, Sean Renfree from Notre Dame went 17 of 28 for 292 yards and 4 TDs.

RB

A regular on our list has been Reggie Nicholson from Westview. He went off for 215 yards and 2 TDs against Marcos.

In the same game, Harrison Evens had 147 yards rushing and 3 TDs and added 85 receiving yards.

Higley's Alex Jentzen came up big versus Buckeye. He rushed for 231 yards and 3 TDs on just 12 carries. And you have to give it up to the Higley OL for paving the way for 478 rushing yards.

Jamal Miles continues to rack up TDs at an awesome pace. He had 5 TDs rushing and threw one more against McClintock.

Brad Jackson helped Coolidge get back to the state finals with 288 yards and 3 TDs.

A big part of Santa Rita's turnaround has been RB Aubura Taylor, he rushed for 197 yards and 1 TD on 27 carries against Bradshaw.

Receiver

Renfree's main target was WR Brandon Hirneise, he caught 10 balls for 184 yards and 3 scores.

Round Valley's Evan Hamblin caught 13 balls for 241 yards and 2 TDs in their loss to Coolidge.

Show Low's Jordan Nikolaus had 6 catches for 102 yards and 1 score and added 2 INTs on defense.

Defense

Got to give it up to the Chaparral defense; they pitched a shutout against Millennium and only surrendered 179 yards of offense.

The CDO defense also played excellent, shutting out Prescott and holding them to 192 yards of offense.

Remember, holiday week. No football for two weeks.
