Former Hamilton TE Dixon Verbals

Former Hamilton TE J.T. Dixon makes his commitment after taking his official visit this past weekend

The road to division-one football has been a road less traveled for Hargrave Military Academy TE J.T. Dixon.

The 6-4 210 pound Dixon prepped at Chandler (AZ) Hamilton High School and helped the Huskies to a 5A1 state title last year. Dixon was a 2nd team all region selection and committed to 1AA Northern Arizona.

Dixon had second thoughts and enrolled at Hargrave.

Many players go to Hargrave to gain academic elgibility but this was not the case for Dixon. He was a full qualifier out of Hamilton. His reasoning was to develop and gain experience, having only played tightend his last season at Hamilton.

It paid off as J.T. committed to Wake Forest after taking his official visit this weekend.

Scout.com confirmed the commitment with J.T.'s father Roger this afternoon.

"It (Wake Forest) is a great academic situation and two of their three tightends are seniors," says the elder Dixon.

Dixon was also being recruited by Clemson, UConn and Minnesota and will enroll in January with full eligibility.
