The Little Man Doesn't Win

Wide receiver Adam Hall from Tucson (Az.) Palo Verde walked into Arizona State's junior day with two offers and left with a third.

The 6-5 195 pound Hall had previous offers from Arizona and Colorado and says while he had received letters from ASU, other contact was limited.

"They really didn't know much about me," Hall tells "They got my tape the day before the junior day and sat down and watched it as a staff. They called me then and said, 'We need to get you down here tomorrow.' I was already coming up to Chandler anyway so I came."

Staying the extra day paid off as ASU head man Dennis Erickson offered Hall before the scrimmage. "We were out overlooking the field and he offered me."

Hall has been a two-way star for PV over the past two seasons, earning all region honors at both his wide receiver and safety spots. Erickson did not specify which position he envisions Hall at. Adam did add, "The safety coach likes how I hit. My motto since I was little has always been "Hit or be hit' and that is how I play."

Hall claims he has no preference for a college position. "I just want to play," he says. "I will do what is best for the team. I will play offense, defense, kick-off or punt returns (returned 7 for scores as a junior). I will leave it open to the coaches."

Adam admits he has some qualities at wide receiver that could make him a good Pac 10 wideout. "I am physical and big and there are not many big corners. There are some that can run with me because they are faster but in a jump ball situation, the little man doesn't win."

Hall obviously made a good impression on the coaching staff but it was ASU that was equally as impressive to Hall. "They have a really nice campus, it's amazing. We did an hour and a half tour of campus. They showed us the dorm rooms and how easily accessible it is to the facilities. They showed us the training table, which was probably my favorite part."

He adds, "The facilities; wow! When we went to the weight room everyone noticed these chains. They use the chains to bench press and it helps them accelerate through the lift because it gets heavier as you go up. I talked to my high school coach about going and buying some."

"The stadium was beautiful. It looked really good. The Patriots practiced on it before the Super Bowl and reseeded it."

Big wide receivers always get plenty of recruiting attention and this is definitely the case for Hall. He says most of the schools in the Pac 10 have talked to him as well as Texas Tech. He claims he has no favorite and is no rush to make a commitment.

He says, "I want to take some visits. If I get selected to one of the All America games I would do it (commit) on TV. If not, I will probably do it before the end of my senior season."

Hall reports a 2.5 GPA and will take the SAT and ACT in June.
