24-7Football.com reported quite some time ago that Phoenix (Az.) Brophy wide receiver Sean Lieb was going to pass up on over ten division-two scholarship offers and walk-on at Arizona State.
Plans have changed. Sean's father called and informed us that his son will now be walking on at the University of Colorado.
According to the elder Lieb, Sean visited Boulder recently and was very impressed with what Coach Hawkins has put together in Boulder. "We met with Coach Hawkins for two hours and he made Sean feel wanted," Mr. Lieb says.
"He will be a preferred walk-on there," he adds. "They don't have as many receivers on their roster and there is a possibility that he could play sooner."
Another factor was CU's success with walk-ons. Lieb says, "Eight walk-ons have earned scholarships over the past few years."
Lieb will be joined by Brophy teammates Ray Polk, who signed this year, and Blake Behrens, already in Boulder.
Lieb was an all-state selection for the Broncos, catching 60 passes for 918 yards and 16 touchdowns inclduing 8 in the post season and 4 in the state championship game.
