Army of Two

Two Notre Dame players land their first offer tonight and there could be more. has the details inside...

We reported earlier this week that Army extended offers to three more Arizona players. Well, add two more to that total.

Both LB Anthony Greco and WR/S Andy Wilder from Notre Dame Prep have informed that they both received offers from Army this evening; it is the first offer for both players.

Greco (6-1 215) was the first to notify us with the exciting news. He says, "Coach Waugh called me and said that he likes the way I move. He doesn't mind that I am 6-1 215, that I play like I am 6-3 230. He said he wants quicker linebackers that can move and he really liked my game film."

Army has offered Greco as a middle linebacker, a position he played last year and recorded 164 tackles and 3 sacks at.

The offer came as a surprise to Anthony. "They haven't really talked to me," he says. "They came to the school and said they would be looking at me but I didn't expect this."

"It is good to get the first offer," he adds.

Anthony is no stranger to West Point as his brother Mike plays baseball there. "He likes it," Greco tells us. "He says it is a good atmosphere and they get the cream of the crop and only take the best kids."

Notre Dame has become a hot spot for recruiting in Arizona and plenty if schools have come by during the Spring evaluation period. Some of the programs that have shown interest in Greco have been UCLA, Princeton, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Dartmouth, Army, Colorado State, Arizona, Cal, UNLV, Brown, Northwestern and the University of San Diego.

An excellent student, Greco maintains a 3.89 GPA and has scored a 25 on the ACT, which Anthony says he was told would be good enough for admitance into West Point.

Safety/ wide receiver Andy Wilder notified 24-7 shortly after that Coach Waugh had also called him and extend an offer.

"He called and offered me and said that he is the safeties coach and likes me there but also liked my film at wide receiver and was offering as an athlete," Wilder comments.

Wilder says he has no preference and the coaching staff told him they would worry about a position if they were to get him on campus.

Wilder (6-3 200) was an all-region pick on both sides of the ball, catching 44 passes for 861 yards and 11 TDs on O and registering 45 tackles and 2 INTs on D.

Andy does not have any family in the military but says he is very close to the Greco family. "Anthony and I are like brothers," he says.

But one thing is for sure, they are no package deal.

"If it happened it would be good but we are going to pick the school the is best for us," he adds.

Arizona and UNLV are two other programs showing interest in Wilder.

Both Wilder and Greco have registered for the Under Armour/ Phoenix Combine on May 24th.

Army has already offered Notre Dame running back Patrick Foley and do not be surprised if they offer DE Garrett Riggio and LB Ryan Reardon.
