Buena v. Basha

The Basha Bears score 51 unanswered in the opener to beat Buena

Buena got out to a quick start when QB Joe Wallace hooked up with Deche Milburn who got behind the secondary and raced 77 yards to make it 7-0.

Basha answered back on their first possesion. Junior QB Marcus Benjamin found Will Still for a 38 yard score. The play was set up by a 22 yard Benjamin to A.J. Williams pass a few plays eariler. Tied at 7-7.

Milburn intercepted Benjamin a series later but the Basha defense, led by LB Dylan Flannery, came up big. Flannery had a sack and a big hit and when Buena attempted to punt, the ball sailed over the punter's head the Basha got the ball at the 3. Benjamin got the ball in for the Bears on a QB sneak and it was now 14-7 and Basha never looked back.

The Bears rattled off 51 unanswered points to take home their first victory of the year.

The scoring went as follows:

Late in the 2nd, Basha scored on a 25 yard Benjamin field goal and on a short run that was set up on another Benjamin to Williams pass. 23-7 at the half.

Alvin Clark raced 80 yards on the opening play of the half to make it 30-7.

RB Lucas Guevara scored from 9 yards out early in the 3rd and scored again on a 30 yard run late in the 4th.

In between the Guevara TD's, if things couldn't get any worse for Buena, Basha fumbled the ball but it was picked up by Basha'a Trevor Plautz for a score.

Final 51-7 Basha over Buena

Buena committed too many penalties to keep a drive going. Their offense could not muster up much of a run game and never had a real drive going. They also played a bunch of guys both ways and seemed pretty tired.

Basha has two solid backs in Clark and Guevara. Benjamin played well and A.J. Williams will be tough all year. The Bears's defense played well. Flannery plys all over the field.

Game Ball

Alvin Clark scored rushed for well over 100 yards and seemed to suck the life out of Buena when he opened the half with his 80 yard scamper.
