The PV defense forced a three and out on Havasu's first series and bad punt gave the Trojans the ball at the 42 yard line. On the first play from scrimmage, running back David Godley went 43 yards off the left side and punched it in two plays later, scoring from 7 yards out. 7-0 PV early in the 1st.
Havasu did not have much luck on their next series as they were forced to punt again. This time the snap went over the punter's head and PV linebacker Jake Brown was credited with a safety. 9-0 PV.
Lake Havasu's stud running back Brent Michaels got into the game on the next series, going for 44 yards off the right side. QB Eric Prater hooked up with Donald Mull for an 11 yard gain to get them in scoring position but a 37 yard field goal went wide right.
PV marched down the field using Godley and junior Tyree Parker and added another score when kicker Danny Compton connected from 46 yards out. 12-0 PV.
Lake Havasu managed to get on the baord just before halftime when Parker found Dylan Olson off play action in the back of the endzone. 12-7 at the half.
But this would be the only score that LH would get as PV rattled off 25 unanswered points in the 2nd half.
Ebo Makinde took the opening kick to the house which made it 19-7 and seemed to suck the life out of Havasu. The PV defense forced a punt and again found the endzone on another Godley run, this one from 10 yards out. Two-point play was no good. 25-7 PV at the end of three.
PV got another score in the fourth when junior Jake Brown punched the ball in from 1 yard out. Brown's score was set up by several tough Parker runs.
Danny Compton missed a 56 yard field goal in the 4th but hit from 42 to end the game 35-7 in favor of Paradise Valley.
Paradise Valley is legit. They have speed with Makinde and Godley and have two solid RBs in Parker and Brown. QB Kevin Spain looks like he will be one of 2010's top QBs. If their line play can hold up on both sides of the ball, PV will be a contender.
Havasu has a big o-line and a big bruising back in Michaels. Brent got his yards tonight but the Trojan defense did not let him break out. Havasu is going to have to establish a better passing game to keep teams from stacking the box to stop Michaels.
The PV ground game was dynamite. Tyree Parker, Jake Brown and David Godley had to have been close to 300 yards on the ground.
