Falcons Hot After Arizona Talent

Apache Junction (Az.) High's DT Cy Maughmer lands first offer

I had not even finished typing my story on Air Force offering Chaparral OTs Jacob Ehm and Andrew Gustafson when I got a call from Apache Junction DT Cy Maughmer and he told me that the Falcons had just offered him as well. This was Maughmer's first offer.

He tells 24-7Football.com, "The coach called me and asked how my recruiting was going. I told him I was talking to Arizona State and Arizona but no one had offered. He asked me, 'How would you like that to change?' and offered me a scholarship."

He adds, "I am very excited to have this first offer."

Other than the tw in-state schools Cy mentioned above, he says that Portland State has been in contact. "They think I would be a perfect nose in their 3-4 scheme," Maughmer says.

Maughmer (6-2 285) was the 4A1 heavy weight wrestling runner-up as well as being an all-region defensive tackle.
