I was quoted a few months ago after watching LB/RB Ramon Abreu's highlight tape, that it was "as impressive as any tape I have seen thus far this year." The one question I had, and it was probably the same question college coaches had, was "What position does he play?"
In the end, does it matter? Sometimes recruiting is about getting quality football players. Well Colorado has answered the question and has become the first school to step up and offer Abreu.
Ramon tells us just minutes ago, "I just wanted to let you know that I got my first offer. It's from Colorado University as a corner."
Ramon tells us how it went down, "Coach Brown, the DBs coach, said he liked my tape instantly when he watched it and told me I had an offer from CU."
His reaction, I was shocked and I had a big smile on my face."
The odd thing is, Abreu has never played corner before. "I have only played it in some passing leagues," he says. Adding, "I am really looking forward to working at it. I feel like I can adapt."
While Abreu did not commit to the Buffs, he says they are his leader. "CU was my first letter and now my first offer. I will take them into high consideration."
Abreu (5-10 180) was named the Pima Region's player of the year as a junior after starring on both sides of the ball. Recorded 139 tackles, 6 sacks and 2.5 sacks on defense and rushed for 962 yards and 15 scores on offense. He was a 1st team all-region pick on both sides of the ball.
