Four-Star Safety Makes Commitment
Four-star safety Devon Carrington from Chandler (Az.) Hamilton informed Scout.com that he has ended his recruitment and made a verbal commitment to Stanford.
He tells Scout.com, "I just committed to Stanford. I've always wanted to go but wanted to see other schools but when I noticed how many commits they have, I knew I had to make my decision early if I wanted a spot."
He adds, "It's a great place and I feel it is right for me."
Carrington chose the Cardinal over offers from Washington, Northwestern, Arizona, Cal, Notre Dame, Washington State and Arizona State.
Stanford has done a great job recruiting in the Grand Canyon State in recent years and inked one of Carrington's teammates in February, Drew Terrell. Carrington consulted Drew about his choice but Terrell was not the deciding factor. "Drew gave me his input but the decision was ttally on my own and with my family. The reason I picked Stanford over the others was the degree I would have when I graduate. It was more about the life after football."
Devon has started the admission process but has not been admitted yet, so while he is a firm commitment, nothing is final. He seems to have backup plans stating, "Whether I'm 100% done with my recruitment, I don't know. They're are schools I would still like to visit so I can reassure myself I made the right decsion."
Carrington was an all-region selection this year for the Huskies, recording 77 tackles, 4 sacks and 2 INTs, helping them win the 5A1 state title.
