Jake Brown, Tyree Parker, more Brown and more Parker. Arcadia head coach Jim Ellison will have nightmares about these two tonight. PV head man Donnie Yantis found out quickly that going to these two worked and he milked that cow all night long. The pair rushed for 550 yards and scored 7 TDs in route to a 49-27 Paradise Valley win over Arcadia on Cox 7 Thursday.
Arcadia struck first when Connor McClain found the endzone and the Titans took a 7-0 lead, this would be their only lead of the night.
PV got right to the ground game with Brown and Parker each getting an early score. Parker's frm 69 yards out and Brown's from 15.
Arcadia was scrappy though and hit paydirt again when Jake Hirschi cruised in from 60 yards out. The PAT was no good. PV 14-13.
Brown got a 69 yarder of his own and an Arcadia fumble and PV drive, capped off by a Parker TD run, put the Trojans up 27-13.
Again, Arcadia fought back, with Coby Kirkegaard leading the Titans on a scoring drive with 1:30 left in the half. Kirkegaard hit Hirschi on a bomb to get them to midfield and found Brendan Satran to get them in the redzone. McClain scored from a few yards out and Kirkegaard ran it in for two. Score at the half PV 27 Arcadia 21.
PV came out in the second half just like the first. More Parker and more Brown. The Trojans went on a 6 minute drive, capped off by Brown's third TD. Kevin Spain hit Brown on the two-point and it was 35-21 PV.
Arcadia misfired and a double pass was intercepted by PV's Joe Sabye and one pay later, Brown ran for his fourth score, this one from 96 yards out. 42-21 and the game seemingly in hand.
Arcadia added two more scores in the fourth and Tyree Parker got his third TD of the night to give PV a 49-35 win.
It's not the Arcadia's offense played poorly, because they didn't. They amassed over 400 yards of offense. It was that PV's run game is that good. You will be hard-pressed to find two backs in the state, let alone 4A2, better then Brown and Parker. Tonight PV didn't even have to use their D1 quarterback, Kevin Spain.
Pick your poison. Tyree Parker and Jake Brown combined for 550 rushing yards and 7 TDs. Also give credit to Paradise Valley's o-line.
Colby Kirkegaard had 350 yards of offense for Arcadia and that cannot be overlooked.
