The game got off on the wrong foot for the visiting Millennium Tigers and they never seemed to get on the right one. Centennial's Tevin Ray intercepted Mike Massey's pass on the first series, putting the Coyotes in scoring position. Four Anthony Hughes runs later and CeHS was up 7-0.
As it would turn out, this was the only score Centennial would need as they rolled to a 51-3 lead on Fox Sports AZ on Thursday night.
The two teams exchanged field goals and Anthony Hughes scored two more first half touchdowns to build a 23-3 lead at the half. The latter score was set up late in the 2nd quarter off a Zach Hoffpauir INT.
Centennial QN Dain McFarland led the charge in the second half throwing two touchdowns, one to Damon Sparks and the other was an 80 yarder to Matt Baugh.
Tevin Ray added two late scores, one off a fumble recovery and the other a late scoring run.
Final: Centennial 51 Millennium 3
Centennial was just too strong. Millennium was going to have to play a near perfect game to win and they committed to many turnovers to overcome.
Great all around effort by the Coyotes. The standouts were WR Matt Baugh and RB Anthony Hughes. Baugh caught 7 passes for 184 yards and a TD while Hughes scored 3 times, all in the first half.
